A Delicious Day

24 April 2022
PCT Kitchen Creek Road to the north and back
(5 miles, + 1,000/-1,000 feet).

Half Cookie and I are friends with a woman who runs a fitness class in our local park that we attend a few days each week. She is preparing to do a big trail run at Bryce Canyon and asked if we knew of any local places to train.

Why the PCT of course!

We drove out together this morning and I asked her if she had a trail name. She didn’t, but she did have a nickname from her time in high school. She has an unusual last name and her friends had transformed it to “Delicious.” And that, of course, is way too long for a nick name, so over time it became “Delish.”

Perfect!

When we got to the trailhead this morning, we let Delish go ahead for her training run. We agreed to meet back at the car in about 2 hours, giving us time to hike about 5 miles, and her time to run about 10.

Today was a perfect day, and the wildflowers are still putting on quite a good show!
