Guppy Pass

3 August 2022
Trail Lake to Mosquito Flat
(5 miles, +1,000/-1,900 feet).

Well, I’d like to say that I was so tired last night that I was able to sleep padless on the soggy, stoney slope that we moved our tent to.

But not so much.

This morning everyone was happy but tired. One more night in the monsoon seemed right out. So we decided to hike out.

On the way back to Mono Pass, we discussed the fact that there are actually two passes in the Sierra called “Mono Pass.” Double Down and I have actually done another trip where we went over the other one.

So confusing!

So we decided to rename this one after Guppy, in honor of her first overnight Sierra adventure.

To mix things up on the return I thought I would climb above a snowfield opposite the trail. It was fun!
