Secret Falls (Shhhh!)

Secret Falls Trail
(2 miles, +100/-100 feet).

Our last hike in Kauai was my favorite! It was very short, but to get to the trailhead we first had to paddle on the Kailua River, which was GORGEOUS!

Also gorgeous
Look at those biceps!
Wild bananas on the shore

It was about an hour paddle to the trailhead where a hundred kayaks crowded the shore. We carefully placed our SUPs in some tall grass away from the fray and then donned our Tivas for the one mile walk to Secret Falls.

Easy peasy

A little more rocky here
Oops!
Um, where’d the trail go?
Fence Morning Glory
Creeping beggarweed
This is deluxe!
Sea hibiscus
Apparently this is a thing
Crepe Ginger
Mustard yellow polypore
Well does it end or keep going?
Sshhhhh! They’re SECRET!
Only the chickens know about this place

I jumped into the falls while Half Cookie soaked in the scene. It was crowded but lovely all the same.

A lovely linger
Flat crepe
Back at the river crossing
So pretty!

When we got back to the paddle boards we decided to explore all the inlets on the way back. They were wonderful!

Fern Grotto
This is wonderful!
Gazing at a distant mountain

Soon we were done, but we had one more encounter outside the Target in Lihu’e.

Love these! So beautiful! I have to look up an ice tea I love that is made from something can only find in Hawaii and name where you are rings a bell - maybe! Hope all is well! Tell Half Cookie I admire her biceps, balance and strength - I can barely walk!! Love, Peggy
