Return to Eagle Rock

4 December 2022
PCT Warner Springs to Eagle Rock
(6 miles, +900/-900 feet).

Half Cookie is usually busy this time of year making… you guessed it… cookies! But she was all caught up today, so we decided to do a short hike.

Half Cookie’s knees have been bothering her and it was a bit chilly today, so we needed something low and flat.

I immediately thought of the PCT around Warner Springs — a hike back to Eagle Rock would be perfect!

Eagle Rock was quite busy. It took a while to wait for a clear shot of the iconic formation.

After a nice break, we headed back, this time on a use trail cross-country that connected back to the PCT after about half a mile.

With just a mile to go, we crossed paths with some hikers who were hiking with their…. cat!

The cat was panting hard and seemed quite freaked out. At least, that’s what our own cats look like when they are afraid. I can’t even imagine all the novel predator smells it was being exposed to.

We also saw some humans taking advantage of the trail on 4 legs.

Soon we were back to the car and ready to drive the lovely hills heading back to San Diego.
