Five Lakes Loop

Glacier Gorge to Bear Lake via Mills Lake and Lake Haiyaha
(7 miles, +1,600/-1,300 feet).

Today we set off to do a seven lake loop in the Bear Lakes area, but as it turns out, five was plenty!  I got to see two lakes I missed last time I was here, Mills Lake with lovely views of Longs Peak, and Lake Haiyaha below aptly named “Chaos Canyon.”

Lovely staircase up to Haiyaha

As it turns out, Haiyaha is a Native American word for “big rocks,” which were quite plentiful at their eponymous lake.
